The Metropolitan chair is characterized by its chic combination of gentle curves and engaging cants that not only create a striking profile but ensure comfortable ergonomics for the sitter. The narrow lunette-shaped “slice” of negative space between the seat and back is both visually engaging and infuses an overall levity to the form. Metropolitan chair is available with a choice of bases, a rectilinear sled base or a central columnar support that culminates in four splayed spokes to form the base.
Jeffrey Bernett presented his first collection of design objects entitled Ideas for Production at New York’s International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in 1996 for which he received the Editor’s Award for Best Decorative Accessories. At the 2000 ICFF, Bernett along with five other designers was named Best New Designer. Bernett has had the distinction on many occasions of being the very first American designer to work with many of his European clients.
Bernett’s Metropolitan chair is composed of an internal structure in steel with Bayfit cold-shaped polyurethane foam with polyester padding.
